Paulina Porizkova was born on April 9, 1965 in Prostejov, Czechoslovakia.Her father fled Czechoslovakia and moved to Lund in Sweden in the 1970's, then hired people to "rescue" his wife and daughter. After years of failed rescue attempts, the Czech government finally gave in, and let the family reunite in Sweden.Paulina's life was on the brink of change thanks to a chance encounter with an Elite modeling scout, who spotted her on the street in Sweden. The offer was extremely tempting for a teenage Paulina who was eager to get out of Sweden and support herself.
